This has been my favorite cover to The Legend of Sleepy Hollow for a long time. Honestly, I do not remember when I first saw this art; but I associate it with the story as strongly as I do the design of the Disney characters for the Washington Irving classic. The simple graphic nature of the art is attractive and peaks your interest without giving anything away. There is a bit of humor and a touch of horror about the image - very similar to the story.The 20th edition of this paperback, that I have, lists the original copyright as 1962, Simon & Schuster Inc. . I wonder if the cover artist was ever credited in any of the previous editions.
