Spazzco Animation Studio has a sample of what is on their instructional dvd, How to Draw Monsters. It gives a good example of how to begin a drawing with simple shapes. Those simple shapes are then used as a guide to expand your drawing into something more elaborate. Like many of this type of tutorial, the process of drawing appears to be much cleaner and smoother than it really is. I didn't see the dvd offered on their web site. It may no longer be available; but this flash animation lesson is fun to watch.
