I'll finish out the month with a cover to issue #1 of Mr. and Mrs. J. Evil Scientist. The book was published in 1963, a year before The Munsters or The Addams Family were premiered on television. The characters may have had their inspiration from the long time New Yorker cartoons by Charles Addams that the later TV series was based on. The title lasted for 4 issues until 1966. The comics were usually published near Halloween.
The first time the creepy family appeared was in a Hanna-Barbera Snagglepuss cartoon short, Fraidy-Cat Lion, in February 1961. The family would be reinvented, to look much less Addams inspired, as The Gruesomes in several Flintstones cartoons.
