Tomahawk #95

Here is another comic book from my collection. Once monsters became popular in the 1950's and 60's, comic book publishers and editors jumped at every chance to have their characters fight whatever odd creatures the writers and artists could come up with. Even the comic characters outside of the superhero and horror genre books got enlisted into battling a hoard of monsters and aliens.

Tomahawk was DC Comic's Revolutionary War hero. In this issue from 1964, Tomahawk stumbles onto a tribe of undersea Native Americans and fights giant sea monsters as he searches for a kidnapped boy.

The back cover to this issue gives us a second glimpse at the frenzy for monsters that was going on at this time. Aurora Plastics Corp. was introducing two new members into their line of popular monster models - Godzilla and King Kong.
