Japanese Medical Book

Kameshaku eats rice and wears an umbrella-like hat that blocks medicine. It can be destroyed by eating wild beans.

Monsterama pointed the way to this great post at Pink Tentacles.

From the culture that created giant monsters - here are some fairly detailed, close-up drawings of some of the tiny malevolent creatures that were believed to cause illness in humans. The first microscopes were invented in the Netherlands during the early 1600's. I wonder just how large these creatures were thought to be? The drawings are from the Harikikgaki, a medical book written in Osaka, Japan in 1568 by an unknown author.

I wonder which of these bugs is inside me this spring hay fever season.
