Tarzan 47: Boy and the Horned Monster

When you read this story, drawn by Jesse Marsh, in Dell's Tarzan # 47, 1953, you will notice a common plot that was used in many serials, comic books, and probably Hardy Boys mysteries. Hey! A promise of a monster always catches my attention.

Marsh's art is less harsh and distorted in this Boy story than his art became in the later issues. The Tarzan story in this comic is especially lush, with his obvious Milt Caniff influence being evident.

Tarzan 227

Joe Kubert's cover to the January, 1974 issue of Tarzan has Edgar Rice Burrough's famous character in an uncharacteristic location. The jungle lord must be cold if he only has a leopard skin thong, a torn wolf pelt and that one boot to keep him warm on the top of this snowy mountain.
