The Whale, 60x72, 1987
• For many peoples it's the music of the Beatles that can transport them back into the sixties. For me, it is Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass. I don't remember buying a Beatles album back then; but I did buy several Herb Albert and the Tijuana Brass LPs. The Tijuana Brass' pop sound is stuck in that decade. I didn't take them with me when I left the 60's, like I did the song of the Beatles.
I hadn't listen to the Tijuana Brass in many, many years until recently when I heard the Bert Bacharach, Tijuana Brass theme to the 1967 version of the James Bond movie Casino Royal. When I heard that sound it was like a light clicking on over a pathway back in time.
It seems, like many artists, Herb Alpert is interested in more than one form of personal expression. Take a look at his paintings.

I'm not sure if those solvent based Magic Markers are legal any more.
